Another SuperTroop September Success!

An incredible £2980 was raised this month, ensuring that SuperTroop’s 2026 Holiday will be spectacular! A huge thank you to everybody who donated to us and to all of our diligent fundraisers, whose efforts we will celebrate in this post.

Anne and her son, Stefan, completed a one mile wheelchairathon around the meadows. Stefan became disabled at age seven due to complications related to epilepsy and is now in his thirties. Anne says “During his time at school I felt he missed out on so many ‘fun’ things his brother experienced so when my neighbour told me about Supertroop I was immediately keen to help. I am lucky enough to have a package which allows for respite but I know this is not the case for others so, again, SuperTroop seemed like the perfect charity to support. Stefan never got the chance to have so much fun and we know only too well how vital respite is to parents/carers.” During their journey Stefan enjoyed talking to people and they received some cash donations along the way.

Kate, one of our trustees, fundraised by running a pub quiz in London. Not only did she raise awareness of SuperTroop south of the border, but one quiz attendee has plans to recommend us as the nominated charity for their employer, which is amazing! The way fundraisers spread the word about SuperTroop matters to us just as much as the financial contributions they generate.

Sue, our chief operating officer, organised a bake sale at her work, which was a huge hit. She had sold half of her stock within one hour! The most popular items were the vegan chocolate chip banana bread and her daughter’s dark chocolate and raspberry brownies.

A team of eighteen SuperTroop volunteers, led by Sally, our families lead, committed to walking 500 miles over the course of the month. The song I Would Walk 500 Miles by The Proclaimers is a favourite at the Supertroop holiday disco, so it seemed to be the ideal target, except that the team smashed out 419 miles in the first week! The target was doubled to 1000 miles and subsequently tripled to 1500 miles and in the end they achieved a blazing final total of 1896 miles!

A fantastic effort from everybody - thank you so much for your enthusiasm and hard work.
