SuperTroop holidays are organised and run by a dedicated, skilled and enthusiastic team of volunteers made up of Fettes pupils, group leaders and senior helpers

Holidaymakers receive round the clock one-to-one support by trained volunteers aged 17-19 years old who are, or were, Fettes pupils. Pupil volunteers support holidaymakers with personal care, routine medical care and joining activities. New volunteers undertake thorough and systematic training, delivered by members of the senior team and external providers, who are highly skilled in areas spanning clinical psychology, developmental psychology, child protection, health and safety, and education. This creates a safe infrastructure within which pupil volunteers can enjoy creating a magical holiday.

This experience has taught me to be a more understanding, empathetic, patient person.
The positive impact that SuperTroop has had on me will stick with me throughout my life.”

With support from more senior helpers, volunteers acquire an understanding of a range of learning disabilities. They also develop new skills in communication, teamwork, leadership and diligent practice and taking on a new level of responsibility.

Having retained volunteers over the years, we have accumulated a wealth of knowledge, skills and expertise for caring for young people with disabilities.
